The government on Monday delayed by one day the planned meeting Tuesday of the special task force on historical distortions in recently approved history textbooks in Japan.
The team's third meeting was delayed because of conflicting schedules at the foreign and education ministries.
During the meeting Wednesday, participants will address the government's final position on the issue and specific countermeasures, possibly including a demand for the revision of the distortions.
They will also discuss the new Japanese cabinet. Junichiro Koizumi is the front runner for Tuesday's election when the ruling Liberal Democratic Party chooses its new president and subsequently the next prime minister.
Meanwhile, the state-run history textbook screening committee, which received the results of a scholarly examination of the eight recently approved textbooks last Friday, will wrap up its final review this week.
The government will map out countermeasures based on the outcome of the committee's review.
