Red Cross Talks to Begin Tuesday

The two Koreas are poised to hold three days of Red Cross talks at the North's Mount Geumgang from Tuesday.

The South will ask the North to confirm the whereabouts of South Korean abductees and POWs in the North and to regularize face-to-face and video reunions of separated families.

Seoul's chief delegate to the talks, Secretary General Jang Seok-joon of Korean National Red Cross said he will try his best to patiently discuss the abductee and POW issue.

He said an agreement on the reunions and enabling mail correspondence between separated kin is also important.

The South Korean delegation left for the North Tuesday morning.

The last Red Cross meeting was held in August of last year.
