North Korea has thanked South Korea for sending rice aid last year.

The Unification Ministry in Seoul said Tuesday that the North Korean chief of the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Committee sent a thank-you letter for the 500,000 tons of rice sent to the North last year.

He also expressed hope that inter-Korean projects will succeed in the future.

Under an agreement signed with Pyongyang in July last year, Seoul provided 400,000 tons of domestic and 100,000 tons of Thai rice between last year and January 7th.
