An official of the presidential office said...President Kim Dae-jung will appear in a TV commercial film (CF) produced by the U.N. International Children's Emergency Fund or UNICEF.

Kim finished filming with eight Korean and foreign children for the UNICEF CF titled "Global Movement of Children" at a garden in the presidential house on Monday morning.

The CF, to be produced by UNICEF, will urge each government in
the world to protect children's rights and privileges, and will be aired to the world in September during a special session of the UNICEF via TV channels, like CNN in the United States and BBC in Britain.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela, U.N Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates are also slated to appear in the CF.

Kim's appearance in the CF will last about 30 seconds.

In the CF message, Kim will say... I am the president of South Korea. Children are our hope. All children should grow up healthy, in peace and cherishing life.

An official explained...the UNICEF asked Kim to appear in the commercial, considering he has devoted his entire life to realizing democracy, promoting human rights and protecting the rights and privileges of children.
