N. Korea Accepts Fertilizer Aid From Seoul

North Korea has accepted South Korea's offer of 150-thousand tons of fertilizer aid worth 60 billion won.

Pyongyang on Thursday asked Seoul to send 130-thousand tons of composite, urea and ammonium sulfate fertilizer to the ports of Nampo, Haeju, Heungnam, Chongjin and Wonsan, and the remaining 20-thousand tons to Gaesong and Gosong via overland routes.

The North also requested more ammonium sulfate instead of organic fertilizers, turning down Seoul's proposal of testing organic fertilizer to protect soil.

The first vessel carrying the aid will depart Tuesday from South Korea's port of Yeosu and head for Nampo.
