Working-level officials from the two Koreas will gather Monday to discuss the connection of cross-border railways and roads.

According to the Unification Ministry, the two-day meeting in the North’s border city of Gaesong will focus on technical preparations, including reviewing the construction of the Gyeongui and Donghae railroads.

In particular, the ministry said the talks would seek agreement on conducting trial operations of the inter-Korean railways within next month and on seeking the prompt opening of the Gyeongui Line on the western border.

Participants at today's meeting are also expected to discuss a planned visit by former President Kim Dae-jung to the North in June.
