Koreas Finalize Delegates for Military Talks

South and North Korea have finalized the lists of their delegates for high-level military talks starting Thursday.

The Defense Ministry on Monday said the North will send a five-member delegation led by Lieutenant General Kim Yong-chol.

The rank of lieutenant general in the North is equal to major general in the South.

A brigadier general from the South and a major general from the North have led previous inter-Korean talks of generals. Seoul, however, accepted last week Pyongyang's proposal to raise the delegate rank one grade.

The two-day talks will focus on the prevention of armed conflict at the border and a joint fishing area in disputed areas of the West Sea.

Also on the agenda is a safety guarantee for those using cross-border railways and roads.
