The first batch of South Korea's springtime fertilizer aid for North Korea is on the way to the North.

The Pioneer Kona left the south coast port of Yeosu Thursday morning, carrying six-thousand tons of composite fertilizer.

The vessel will arrive at Nampo Port on the North's west coast Thursday.

The shipment is the first of 150-thousand tons of fertilizer aid pledged by the government to assist the North in its springtime planting.
