Koreas to Discuss Rail, Road Security

North Korea has agreed to discuss military security guarantees for a set of cross-border roads and rail lines.

In inter-Korean talks of military generals that opened Thursday at the truce village of Panmunjom, South Korea's vice delegate to the two-day meeting also proposed holding the second inter-Korean summit of defense ministers.

Rail lines passing through the western section of the inter-Korean border and the other going through the eastern part are completed but have yet to undergo test runs.

A set of parallel roads opened last year to allow vehicles to transport South Korean travelers to the North.

The last inter-Korean meeting of generals was held in June 2004.
