Kim Do-hoon converted a penalty kick in the sixth minute to give South Korea a 1-0 victory over Iran in the opening match of the LG Cup 2001 tournament at Egypt's Cairo Stadium Tuesday evening.

South Korea were awarded the penalty kick after Iranian defender Ali Reza Vahedi Nikbakht harshly tackled the dribbling Yoon Jung-hwan.

Kim calmly drilled his shot home for the winner from his right foot, past the Iranian goalkeeper Parviz Boroumand Sharif.

On Thursday evening, South Korea and the host country Egypt will meet for the final and the third place match will be held between Iran and Canada.
