S. Korea considers lifting Chinese garlic ban

Written: 2001-04-26 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

The government is considering lifting restrictions on Chinese garlic imports.

The "garlic safeguards" were imposed last June to protect domestic producers from Chinese garlic imports.

An official says the import restrictions were the source of trade dispute with China.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and other ministries are against lifting the quotas and garlic growing farmers are protesting the move.
