The presidential chief of staff has denied a rumor that former President Kim Dae-jung will discuss an inter-Korean federation with North Korea during his visit there in June.

Lee Byung-wan said Friday that the government has held no discussion on the federation.

For such a discussion to take place, he said the two Koreas must establish peace on the peninsula, implement a stable security framework and create an economic cooperation body.

Lee also said Pyongyang has yet to send official approval for Kim's visit.
