A women's conference was held at Mount Geumgang Resort in North Korea on Friday, according to North Korea’s Central News Agency.

The conference was attended by women from both South and North Korea to work toward implementing the goals of the 2000 Inter-Korean Summit Declaration. The South Korean delegation was headed by Chung Hyun-back and the northern delegation led by Park Sun-hui.

During the conference, the participants appealed to the women of the two Koreas to work together to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula and to promote solidarity between women's groups in both Koreas, said the KCNA.

They also called on Korean women's organizations to expend efforts to resolve the issue of "comfort women" who were forcibly drafted into sexual slavery for the Japanese army during the 1910-1945 Japanese colonial occupation of the peninsula.
