Abductees' Families to Testify Before U.S. Congress

Families of Japanese abductees will testify in a U.S. congressional hearing.

Japan’s state-run NHK TV reported Saturday that the mother of Megumi Yokota, a Japanese girl kidnapped by North Korea, and three others will testify before the Congress.

NHK said the international relations committee of the U.S. House of Representatives has decided to hold a hearing on the abductee issue and has requested the families to testify.

The report added that relatives of Koreans abducted by the North will also testify.

It is the first time for the U.S. Congress to hear the testimony of Japanese victims’ relatives on this issue.
