CIQ Offices for Inter-Korean Railways Done

Ceremonies on Wednesday will mark the completion of two offices for customs, immigration and quarantine for the inter-Korean Donghae and Gyeongui railways.

The Unification Ministry said Tuesday that the events will be held in the northern Seoul suburb of Paju and Goseong on the east coast. Both cities are close to the inter-Korean border.

Residents of the two cities, government officials and staff from the construction firms that built the offices will attend the ceremonies.

Construction of the Donghae office began in September 2004 and cost 55 billion won, while that for Gyeongui took up 42.5 billion won.

The two offices began operations in January.
