Stance on NK Rights Not to Go to P'yang

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea will deliver its position on North Korea's human rights issue to Seoul instead of Pyongyang.

Conference minutes released Thursday said eight of ten commission members agreed on the decision in their plenary session in December last year.

The commission decided not to present to Pyongyang direct recommendations or opinions on human rights in consideration of the North's special legal status.

In its plenary session in January, the commission failed to reach a conclusion on the North's human rights after a special committee presented a report on the matter. Discussions are still underway.
