The government on Monday pardoned 2,085 model inmates on the occasion of the 2,545th anniversary of Buddha's birthday, which falls on Tuesday.

Among the released "well-behaved" inmates is someone who was sentenced to life in prison for murder 17 years ago, 33 who have been imprisoned for over 10 years, and 288 who obtained various licenses during their incarceration.
