Hundreds of Separated Koreans to Reunite Next Week

Hundreds of families separated from their loved ones for more than half a century are to be reunited in the 13th Red Cross reunion program for six days from Monday.

The first group of 99 South Korean families, a total of 149 people, will gather at Sokcho, Gangwon Province on Sunday afternoon before going to North Korea's Mt. Geumgang resort via a land route to meet their families and relatives in the North on Monday morning. The reunion will be followed by a dinner reception in the evening.

On the second day of reunion, the families will have lunch together as well as an outing to the Samilpo resort area before saying goodbye to each other on Tuesday to return to Sokcho.

The second group of 436 people from 100 families will leave for Mt. Geumgang on Thursday for a three-day reunion with their families and relatives in the North.
