Korean fishing boat goes down after colliding with Vietnamese Ship

An 83-ton Korean fishing boat Sunday sank after colliding with a 2,700 ton Vietnamese merchant ship off the sea from South Chungchong Province.

The Korean boat, dubbed as "608 Donghoho," struck the VINHO around 1:30 p.m., 10.5 miles off waters from Taean area.

The maritime police rescued seven of the crew, including captain Yoo Kwang-su, 43, after some five hours of searching following the accident.

The two remaining crew still missing are Hwang Hyo-dong and Choi Sung-goo.

The 83-ton Korean fishing boat capsized after colliding with "VINHO," a 2,717-ton Vietnamese cargo ship, 10.5 nautical miles in the waters off southwest Taean around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the police, the collision, however, did not cause any injuries to the 19 people on the Vietnamese ship, which was sailing from Incheon to Pusan.
