Sweet Basil Korea said Monday it will open a live music entertainment restaurant in southern Seoul in November where gastronomers can enjoy music while savoring their culinary delights.

The first Sweet Basil club, which opened in 1970 in New York and had been operating for more than 20 years, was a gateway to fame for prospective musicians, including Christopher Cross and Michael Franks.

These types of entertainment clubs aim at the music business, such as record production, promotions and sales, differentiating themselves from dinner theaters or family restaurants.

A Japanese businessman took over New York's Sweet Basil a decade ago and has opened "Sweet Basil 139" in Tokyo. The Seoul restaurant will be called "Sweet Basil 127," the number coming from Seoul's longitude.
