South Korea finalized Monday a draft of the demands it will make of Japan because of the controversial, distorted history textbooks which were given approval by Japanese authorities in early April.
At a meeting between government officials, presided over by the Vice Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, a 100-plus-paged report was adopted which analyzed in detail the distortion of historical facts in the eight approved Japanese middle school textbooks. This report is an addition to the original draft of demands made.
Foreign Minister Han Seung-soo is expected to brief President Kim on the finalized draft of the demand Monday, and then will send it in the form of an official diplomatic document via the Japanese ambassador to Seoul.
South Korea is reportedly considering a briefing of the analysis and demands to the National Assembly, as well as publishing an English-language version of the analysis to enhance international awareness of the matter.
