Koreans are celebrating the 79th Children's Day in various events around the town.

In the morning, a ceremony was held to mark the grand festival for children with Seoul City Mayor Kogun and 500 diginataries and families attending.

President Kim Dae-jung said in his congratulatory message wishes for the children to have a good heart for loving friends and neighbors.

President Kim also asked the children to grow to be well-balanced adults physically, intellectually and ethically.

Kim and First Lady Lee Hee-ho invited 24 children who are fighting cancer to the presidential office. They promised to invite them to Chungwha Dae when they visited the children with cancer at Seoul National University Hospital last year.
