Head of New Peninsula Agency Named

The government's chief negotiator to the six-way nuclear talks will head a new state agency on the North Korean standoff and promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Chun Yung-woo will supervise the tentatively named Office of Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs.

The Foreign Ministry on Friday said he will oversee Seoul's policy on the nuclear standoff and negotiations on establishing a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

Deputy Ambassador to Geneva Park In-kuk will replace Chun as deputy foreign minister for policy planning and international organizations.
