The ministry opens cyber museum featuring cultural items nationwide

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism said Monday... it has opened a cyber museum providing information on more than 100,000 cultural items in 26 museums across the country.

The online museum (www.heritage.go.kr) enables users to access information pertaining to the nation's cultural artifacts simply by entering classification age and location details.

Each page contains one A4-page length of information on each item such as its name and purpose and the location of its excavation, as well as providing related pictures .

The site also provides up-to-date information on cultural heritage excavations and cyber tours of cultural properties.

The ministry said it took one year to establish the Internet museum, in which the Cultural Properties Administration, National Museum of Korea, National Folk Museum, nine local national museums, seven public museums and eight university museums participate.
