'Inter-Korean Talks to Tackle Nukes, Abductees'

Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok says he will convey the government's stance on the nuclear standoff and a new peace regime in inter-Korean ministerial talks Friday in Pyongyang.

Lee on Monday said he will discuss basic agenda including separated families in the two Koreas, the North's past abductions of South Korean nationals and prisoners of war and substantial economic cooperation.

He said he will also seek parliamentary approval this year of a special bill on support for abductees' families and those repatriated by North Korea.

Seoul is also trying to confirm DNA tests from Tokyo showing that the husband of Japanese abductee Megumi Yokota is South Korean Kim Yong-nam, who went missing in 1978.
