A diplomatic source in Seoul said Wednesday that France will likely normalize its diplomatic ties with North Korea next week.

The source said that France has already decided on normalization internally. The source said that the normalization is to be announced at the foreign ministers' meeting of the European Union slated to open in Brussels on May 14th and15th.

France and Ireland are the only two countries of the 15-member EU who have no diplomatic relations with the communist country.

Since January, North Korea has normalized relations with 13 EU countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg and Greece.
