South Korea and Japan Wednesday agreed to cooperate closely with the transport of spectators coming for 2002 FIFA World Cup matches to be co-hosted by the two nations.

At a meeting held in Seoul at the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, officials of both countries' transportation ministries discussed establishing a bilateral system to transport spectators to host cities and venues.

The agenda also included the exchange of information on simulated transport demand during the premier soccer event.

The ministry plans to draw up a set of comprehensive measures this month to deal with transportation-related issues for the event.
