Former President Kim Dae-jung says he hopes the inter-Korean ministerial talks opening Friday in Pyongyang will serve as an opportunity to improve cross-border relations.

Kim on Thursday made the comment after a briefing on the talks from Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok.

Lee said he will ask the North for its position on Kim's planned visit to the North in June.
