The Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute will conduct next month research on the ecosystem around the Dokdo islets in the East Sea.

The institute said Tuesday that it will inspect the movement of marine life such as plankton and fish, temperatures in the region, underwater topography, rock structures and pollution.

Researchers will collect rock samples from Dokdo to study the formation of the rocky islets.

The institute will release the research results at international seminars or in academic journals.
