Provincial officials said Saturday Peru recently expressed its intent to support South Cholla province in its bid to host the 2010 International Exhibition.

An official said that an 11-member provincial delegation, led by Governor Huh Kyung-man, informed us that Peruvian officials showed a positive attitude toward the province's bid when it visited the country on Wednesday.

South Cholla province, southwest of Seoul, is hoping to host the world fair in 2010 in Kwangju city, at the center of the province.

The official said while meeting Peruvian Prime Minister Javier Perez de Cuellar and other Peruvian officials, the delegates said attracting the world exposition would give more momentum to the inter-Korean peace process.
