The sale of more than half of the site of the Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea will begin next month.

In a policy coordination meeting with the ruling Uri Party Wednesday, Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok said the sale of 57 percent of the 3.3 square kilometers of land for the first-phase construction of the complex will begin in June.

He said the plan for the sale will be announced at the end of this month, and added the land for the main complex will be sold by the lot according to how it will be used.

The complex also seeks investment from large South Korean companies and foreign firms.
