The two Koreas will hold their fourth military talks from Tuesday on the southern side of the United Nations truce village of Panmunjom.
The Defense Ministry said Friday that the three-day talks will discuss preventing accidental naval clashes near the disputed maritime border in the Yellow Sea and setting a common fishing zone there.
Generals of the two Koreas will also sign an agreement on military guarantees for rail and road transportation across the Demilitarized Zone.
A ministry official said the two sides have long discussed the guarantees and that Seoul has sent a draft proposal to Pyongyang, ruling out a connection to former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung's planned visit to North Korea in June.
Progress in concluding the guarantees is expected, as Pyongyang partially agrees with Seoul's proposal.
The ministry's chief of policy planning Han Min-koo will lead a five-member delegation, while Lieutenant General Kim Yong-chol will represent North Korea.
