The two Koreas on Tuesday have begun working level talks on the planned visit to Pyongyang by former president Kim Dae-jung next month.
The two-day talks at the North’s Mount Geumgang will discuss Kim’s travel route to Pyongyang, the itinerary in the North and the size of his entourage.
Kim is known to eagerly prefer using a newly installed inter-Korean railway for his trip across the border.
On the timetable, Kim is hoping to travel to the North following an event in Gwangju next month marking the sixth anniversary of the 2000 inter-Korean joint declaration.
Seoul’s four-member delegation to the talks is headed by former Unification Minister Jeong Se-hyun; the North’s chief delegate is Ri Jong-hyok, vice chairman of the Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, a state agency on South Korea affairs.
Kim visited Pyongyang in 2000 for the first-ever inter-Korean summit.
