The Korea Railroad Corporation will conduct a safety check this week of the southern sections of two railway lines connecting the two Koreas for their pilot operation on May 25th.

The state-run agency said Tuesday that under an agreement between the two sides, Seoul will provide a locomotive, four Saemaeul passenger trains and a power-generating train.

To ensure technical safety, an operator will ride test trains during a joint track inspection on May 25th to check the sections in North Korea.

The check will also include tests of communication and signaling devices for use when trains cross the Demilitarized Zone.
