Koreas Discuss Ex-President's N.K. Visit

South and North Korea on Tuesday held working-level talks on the planned visit to Pyongyang next month by former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.

On the first day of the two-day meeting near the North's Mount Geumgang, the two sides discussed transportation, itinerary and the size of Kim's entourage.

Led by former Unification Minister Chung Se-hyun, Seoul asked for cooperation in having Kim go to Pyongyang via the inter-Korean Gyeongui Railway. The two sides have agreed to conduct test runs on two sets of cross-border railways.

The North's response was not immediately known but a rejection was likely given that a train ride would require additional security guarantees.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul said the talks will continue Tuesday night and Wednesday to iron out differences.
