The government wants North Korea to sign a military security guarantee on the test runs of two inter-Korean railways scheduled for Thursday.

The Unification Ministry is to issue a statement Tuesday, calling for the North to reach an agreement on military security guarantee for the test runs of the railways coming in just two days.

Due to time constraints, South Korea is open to signing the agreement via faxed documents.

Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok told a KBS radio show Monday that a military guarantee will be agreed in one way or another, saying that Pyongyang officials would not have agreed on the test runs initially without consent from their leadership.
