Ministry to Reconsider Industrial Aid to N.K.

The Unification Ministry says it will reconsider the planned provision of industrial materials to North Korea in inter-Korean economic talks next month.

In a KBS interview Friday, the ministry's chief of inter-Korean exchanges Kim Chun-shik said Seoul will consider public opinion and Pyongyang's attitude in deciding whether to send the aid.

The two sides will hold next month the 12th meeting of the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Promotion Committee.

Kim also said discussion of the aid should come after resolving the North's abrupt cancellation of test runs of inter-Korean railways.

He said the supply of additional raw materials will also require additional consideration, as the ministry agreed to provide the materials simultaneously with the launch of the test runs.
