Inter-Korean Biz Talks Stall on Day 3

The two Koreas on Monday failed to narrow differences in the third day of inter-Korean economic talks in South Korea's tourist island of Jeju.

The Unification Ministry in Seoul said South Korea urged the start of test runs on inter-Korean railways that North Korea canceled late last month and an apology for the abrupt cancellation.

A defiant Pyongyang simply reiterated its blame on Seoul for the canceled tests, and also asked for more industrial help in sectors such as shoes, garments and soap.

South Korean Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok in a dinner urged the keeping of agreements, while not mentioning the canceled test runs.

The two delegations also nixed a visit to a scenic spot on the island to try to narrow differences.

The talks will end Tuesday, but the time of the next meeting is not clear.
