The mother of a South Korean kidnapped by North Korea in 1978 says she is glad over Pyongyang's offer for a reunion with her son.

In a news conference in Seoul Thursday, Choi Gye-wol, the mother of Kim Yong-nam, said she will hug her son as soon as she sees him and ask him about the tough times he has experienced.

Kim's sister Young-ja said she felt deep euphoria after hearing of the offer from the Unification Ministry in Seoul.

Kim's family said they are willing to visit the North with the family of Megumi Yokota, a Japanese abductee who is alleged to have married Kim in the North.
