The two Koreas will hold four days of joint festivities in Gwangju, South Korea from Wednesday to mark the sixth anniversary of the 2000 inter-Korean summit.
One-hundred-50 civic officials from each side, a hundred participants from overseas and government delegates will attend the grand unification festival.
Former President Kim Dae-jung, who will visit Pyongyang later this month, will speak at the opening ceremony at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium before an expected audience of some 30-thousand.
The North Korean delegation will arrive in Gwangju Wednesday morning via a direct West Sea air route and join the South Korean and overseas delegates for a visit to a cemetery in Mangwoldong honoring pro-democracy activists. They will return to Pyongyang Saturday after paying tribute at a memorial tower commemorating the 1929 Gwangju students' uprising against Japan's colonial occupation.
Various events will continue during the four days.
