South and North Korean schools have begun classes marking the anniversary of the June 15th Joint Declaration issued after the landmark inter-Korean summit in 2000.

The June 15 Joint Committee for One Korea announced Monday that South and North Korean preschools, elementary, middle and high schools would hold classes on the topics of reunification and the 2000 Declaration from Monday through Thursday.

The committee said some ten-thousand teachers had applied for the classes in the South.

During the classes, teachers will speak on the historical significance of the June 15th Joint Declaration and on why the two Koreas need to reunify.

Classrooms displaying flags of a unified Korean Peninsula will also feature videos of unification songs and dances.
