Koreas to End Talks on Ex-Pres.'s N.K. Trip

The two Koreas will likely wrap up this week working-level talks on the planned visit to Pyongyang by former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.

Kim's aide said Wednesday that Seoul will discuss the visit with Pyongyang on the sidelines of an inter-Korean joint festival in the South Korean city of Gwangju marking the 2000 inter-Korean summit.

The two sides have reached a general agreement that Kim will depart for Pyongyang on June 27th for a four-day visit.

Kim's side, however, is expected to press again that he ride an inter-Korean railway to at least the North's border city of Gaesong.

The former president will arrive in Gwangju Wednesday afternoon to give a speech at the opening ceremony of the festival before an expected crowd of some 30,000.
