Gov't to Raise Wage Allegation to N.K.

Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon says the government will raise North Korea's alleged confiscation of salaries for North Korean workers at an inter-Korean industrial complex.

In his weekly news briefing Wednesday, he said Seoul will ask Pyongyang to take corrective measures if necessary.

Ban said the two Koreas will work to answer questions from several foreign envoys based in Seoul who visited the complex Monday over the salary situation.

He said what the envoys saw at the complex will help them understand the necessity of the joint project.

U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Alexander Vershbow told a KBS Radio talk show Wednesday that he thinks the salary situation will eventually improve.

He urged Seoul and Washington to understand the importance of clarifying how salaries are paid to North Korean workers at the complex.
