South and North Korean civic and government delegations will continue celebrations Thursday, the second day of joint festivities marking the sixth anniversary of the landmark inter-Korean summit in 2000.

In South Korea's southwestern city of Gwangju, the delegates will in the morning hold a unification festival and adopt a statement urging the continuance of the spirit of the 2000 joint declaration.

The participants will then move to the Gwangju Art Museum for the opening of an art fair.

Scheduled in the afternoon is a joint ceremony of government delegates and a meeting between the two chief delegates, Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok and vice president of North Korea's parliament, Kim Yong-dae.

Meanwhile, the civic delegates will have talks on eight areas, including academics, religion and education.

Arriving in Gwangju Wednesday morning, the 150-member North Korean delegation visited a national cemetery honoring pro-democracy activists and attended the four-day event's opening ceremony and welcoming dinner.
