North Korea says it is taking a serious approach to the planned visit to Pyongyang by former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.

The vice chairman of North Korea's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, Choe Sung-chol, made the comment to South Korean reporters in Gwangju, the site of an inter-Korean festival to mark the sixth anniversary of the historic 2000 summit between the two Koreas.

On if Kim can visit the North on June 27th as scheduled, another North Korean official said Pyongyang has yet to make an official announcement.

The two sides agreed late last month to have Kim make a four-day visit to Pyongyang via land route, but have not held additional talks to discuss details.
