A four-day joint unification festival marking the sixth anniversary of the 2000 inter-Korean summit has come to a close in the South Korean city of Gwangju.

South and North Korean delegations and their overseas compatriots on Friday attended the closing ceremony after several athletic events.

The North Korean delegation will return home Saturday via direct flight over the West Sea after paying tribute at a memorial tower commemorating the 1929 uprising of Gwangju students against Japanese colonial rule.

One-hundred-50 civic officials from each side, a hundred participants from overseas and government delegates attended the gala reunification festival.
