The National Police Agency has launched a special squad against hooligans. The nine hundred-60 man strong forced will be deployed at soccer stadiums across the nation during the 2002 World Cup finals.
N-P-A Commissioner General Lee Moo-young and other police officials attended a ceremony for the launch of the anti-hooligan force in central Seoul on Thursday.
In a mock operation following the ceremony, the anti-hooligan police force used a helicopter, water cannon, and other special equipment to control fans who went wild.
The N-P-A plans to obtain lists of soccer fans with records of violence and block their entry into the nation as much as possible.
The N-P-A plans to set up nine other anti-hooligan police squads in each of Korea's nine other cities hosting World Cup final matches.
