Japan Regulations on Exports to N.K.

Japan’s state-run broadcaster NHK says the Japanese government has decided to step up its regulations on exports to North Korea.

NHK said Monday that the decision is apparently aimed at putting more pressure on the North to take a more sincere attitude on its past abductions of Japanese nationals.

Under the decision, Japanese exporters of products, which can be misused for military purposes, must secure an authorization from the government before exporting to North Korea.

NHK added that Japan will revise a law to apply the new regulation to all related products regardless of their prices.
