A South Korean ship carrying five-thousand tons of fertilizer is scheduled to leave for North Korea Thursday.

According to the Ulsan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, a 68-hundred ton freighter carrying the fertilizer will depart for the North’s Haeju Port.

The shipment, which is part of some 200-thousand tons of fertilizer, was originally scheduled to take place early last month but was delayed after the Red Cross failed to find an appropriate cargo ship.

This year, North Korea has asked for 450-thousand tons of fertilizer in aid. Seoul sent 150-thousand tons between February and April and an additional 200-thousand tons will be deliverd in the second half of the year.
