The South Korean government rejected North Korea’s offer to hold a liaison officers’ meeting for inter-Korean military talks, despite the working-level meetings last month.

The military authorities of the two Koreas held a liaison officers’ meeting at the demilitarized zone last month to discuss cross-border transportation and telecommunication issues and preparatory measures for general-level talks.

Seoul and Pyongyang have held working-level talks since early this year.

A government official explained that Seoul's rejection of Pyongyang’s latest offer is a show of disapproval of the North’s missile firings.
